The Billington House

John Billington, his wife Elinor, and their two sons were one of the few Mayflower families to survive the terrible first winter unscathed by disease or accident. John is embroiled in the factionalism of the early years and is often at odds with the colony leaders.

John Billington came over with his wife and two sons on the Mayflower. Bradford described Billington and his family as "from London" but no specific parish has yet been identified. John Billington Sr. enjoyed a rather stormy relationship with the colonial government, and he was executed in 1630 for the murder of John Newcomen.

Also listed as "Ellen" and "Helen," Elinor (_____) Billington was connected with Spaulding, Lincolnshire, where her son, Francis, inherited land. After John’s death, she remarried to Gregory Armstrong in 1638. They resided in Plymouth at "Playne dealing" where she died sometime after 1642. They had two sons.
